Really fantastic. Who knows , will we see something like this again.
CMC are building a small number of metal bodied early xk marques, for Jaguar, to represent the small number that are 'Missing'. Somthing like 5, I believe. Published in the JEC

Ya I like Callum's Mk 2. Nice restomod. I doubt we'll see anything new like it. Roof pillars the size of your thigh in new cars.
I was surprised by his choice of paint colour, given all the Ecurie Ecosse blues and British Racing greens available but it looks great with the red interior. I was quite chuffed to see it still has rear spats, albeit curvy ones.

Not that hard just change the hubs to 5 lug and guess what the same bolt pattern on a Chevy will work. I replaced my wire wheels with 5 lug hubs and upgraded with Complete Custom Wheel three piece billet wheels so I could get custom off-set rims as I now am running 17" 245 wide tires all the way around my 3.8s and yes it clears the rear fenders which cover about 1/4 to 1/3 of the rear tire/rims
This MKII restomod is similar to the Beecham MKII. What I, Doug and a number of us are doing something similar breeding modern day high performance upgrades while trying to keep the classic lines of these old saloons.

My guess is the rear end being IRS would've been fitted quickly, and there is probably no space inwards to clear the brakes, due to arms etc? those rims have the least offset available? (speculation)
If the IRS setup was shortened to suit the MK2 then theres no excuse, but i agree, they spaced the wheels out so far, and left so much inner guard clearance, would look much better with some fatter rear tyres.
Also not a huge fan of the bumpers, esp the rear with the centre exhaust.
If i do go to IRS in my MK2, and the floor is mostly cut out, i'll def be fitting mini tubs in there, the more space the better

I do not think any mini tubs will be needed as I have a 3.8s which comes with IRS setup and what I did is just measure the space and get the right custom offset rims. Even with the 3.8s which has about 1/3 or 1/4 of rear rims covered by the body I was able to clear 17" 245 wide tires on all four corners.

If ive got it all cut apart, recreating inner guards will be easier anyway with some trailer wheel guards and some sheeting cut to suit, did it to a holden ute of mine a while back and could fit 295 tyres, while before could only get 235.
Offset of the rim will play a major role in what size rim and tyre i can fit, so if i make the space available extra as an added bonus to fitting IRS, i may as well.

FYI,
I probably could have squeezed 255's but I wanted to be able to rotate the wheels. If you are adding those mild fender flares like that updated MKII, the added width should clear an even wider tire if you really want to go more extreme, but to me these are sedans not sports cars so for me a 245 wide tire is plenty wide. The widest I found anyone else do a 3.8s was a 225 and they cut the fender; I wanted the widest wheel while keeping the body stock.

Without any flares you will likely end up with 245 or max 255 tires. In order to put larger tires you will need to flare the car in my opinion. I have my offset to maximize the inner well and I do not think there is much if any extra room if you were to explore cutting that inner well....

For me I like the concept of a restomod but where the car is just upgraded and still is a good handling and all purpose car not just a quarter mile ride. I think you will be happy with a 245 or if you dare squeeze a 255 and that way the car will be great for handling and you keep the stock body exterior wise. Tubing the car to me would not make a difference with the IRS inboard brakes as that would not gain much if any tire width. There is a cool wide body MKII on Youtube and those wide flares are needed to get into the really big 285+ tire ranges. Remember these cars had decent handling with a dinky 175 tire so going to a 245 will be plenty for good handling and looks as well.
