Default jagaur MK2 Car Identification

Hi to alls
I am about to buy a 1964 Jaguar MK2 and I would like to know where the Car Number and Body Number are located and stamped.
Should I find a small riveted plate on the chassis with all the information about the car (car, body, engine, and gearbox numbers) ?
Feel free to send me photos
My best regards
Gérard

These plates can be found in the engine bay on the firewall or on the inside of the right wing. Maybe there are other locations too.

This is a “bad” number but it indicates the position of the number just in front on the radiator by the bonnet catch. Should match the number on the plate.

Further to Rishi's description, the plate on my car is on the inner wing a little forward of the heater box. It's upside down so that it's legible for someone leaning over the side of the car into the engine compartment.

If you want to check the engine number and if the cylinder head is original, it's on the vertical surface at the front of the central valley between the camshafts.

If you can’t find the engine number on the head (mine has a SP head so no number there) you will need to look on the block under the carbs just above the oil filter. Do try and match all the numbers. I found two nice cars but upon researching the numbers I discovered one was a Frankenstein and the other was not what they said it was (they said a ‘65 automatic but it was a ‘61).
Gearbox is not easy to match as the number is hard to get to.
