Just to leave this thread solved. Thanks to Chris from Classic wedding cars who directed me to the 2.4, 240 Jaguar parts manual. The kick down plate and the mechanism attached to the front carburettor is specific to the 240. The plate is attached to the bottom two bolts of the front carburettor, placed in front of the inverted Y throttle spring retainer. The studs for fitting all 8 of the two carbs on the inlet manifold are all the same length so fitting the gaskets, carburettor inverted Y and the kick down plate is a true PITA, done mostly by feel rather than being able to see anything. This leaves the bracket with the cams for the rod to connect to the throttle linkage and the other cam for the kick down cable. The Jaguar parts manual states it is part C28861 for the kick down cable but as that is sold by SNGB for the 2.4 and the 240 I am dubious that it is correct. SNG have it as special order and do not have the length on file. The front carburettor fixing is specific to the 240 with the BW 35 automatic gearbox, the 2.4, 3.4, 3.8 and 340 still have the kick down plate as per the Martin Robey catalogue at the start of this thread and that is attached to the rear carburettor. I haven't sourced or fitted the kick down cable as yet but will probably get one made up to the correct length rather than purchasing a part number from catalogue. If I thought fitting the plate seemed a challenge threading the kick down cable behind the carburettors and attaching to the cam of the kick down plate may make me realise that was child's play! When I get to that point I will post the lengths of both the fitted cable and the new measured cable for future reference.

It has made me realise that maybe there aren't that many 240 automatic cars about, but hope that this information maybe helpful for someone in the future.

Frank

Page turned to show the kick down plate, part 14, in correct orientation for fitting on lower studs of front carburettor.

Kick down plate specific to 240 automatic.

Thank you for your final posting. It is exactly because ~ "there aren't that many 240 automatic cars about," ~ that makes this thread so valuable.

Having Bowden cables made up to your requirement is easy.

Good luck!
