Yes ~ the Mk2's are terminal understeerers whereas the S Type is a marginal oversteerer to neutral. Tends to depend on tyres.

I certainly would not want anything like an '80's Lincoln Town Car, anything including steering.

I learned to drive on its Ford cousin, the LTD/Crown Victoria, so I have a soft spot for those cars.

A friend of mine has a 1981 Lincoln Mark VI and it's a perfect car for long distance highway cruising - smooth ride and quiet. Underpowered, as it was the height of emissions , it produces 129hp from the 5.0 V8, but actually gets quite reasonable highway fuel economy for the era. Keep the speed under 110 km/h and use cruise control and you can get just over 10 L/100km. Adding a rear roll bar and changing the front one for the Police spec does wonders for the handling too.

I'm afraid to me it is a dangerous over compliant barge. I started driving life on a string of Alfa's. There are an amazing number of old Crown Vics still running in Saudi.
