Default Mark2 automatic gearbox

Hi everyone. I'm looking to replace my x300 with a Mk2. I have seen one locally but the (1963) dg250 gearbox has had a disastrous recent overhaul and is to all intents and purposes dead. I am wondering if there is any way to convert it to the later BW35 box. The car has column change at the moment so presumably that would have to convert to floor change? I'm seeking advice on feasibility and approx cost. I would be doing the labour myself. I am based in Suffolk UK.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
