hi, since nobody has answered this question I will venture a guess:
I think the MK-1 grille is not compatible with the MK-2 grille. It looks narrower than the MK-2 grille. You can measure the widest point of each grille to confirm.

The early Mark 1 grill is definitely NOT compatible, but the later one may be , as Jaguar increased the size of the grill aperture to get more air past the radiator for the 3.4 litre engine. Having made this change, I doubt that further body pressings mods were done for the Mark 2.
Even if the later Mk 1 and the Mk 2 grills are the same size, the Mark 2 has a separate mazak casting bolted on to take the grill badge, and also provide a central pillar down the centre of the grill. The Mark 1 didn't have this.
