MK2 Ignition Switch
Hello all,
Can anyone tell me what the thread size is on the original MK2 ignition switch? I purchased a new Lucas switch that has an ugly and bulky hexagonal, nickel-plated (I think) trim nut for the interior side of the central gauge panel. I want to use my original chrome nut with two indentions for tightening, but the thread seems to be close but different.

Lin,
I understand your concern but the reason that replacement switches have the hex nut is that you can never tighten the key switch enough with the notched round nut, even with the proper tool, so that after a certain number of key insertions and key movements, it becomes loose again.
my S type came with the hex nut and I used a properly-sized socket to tighten it; it has never come loose again.
