Yes it is the (in)famous Lucas DR3 windscreen wiper motor.I have rebuilt a dozen or so for myself and acquaintances.

I am a bit surprised at the spade connectors in Glyn's illustration.I have always managed to salvage the original bullet connecters.

I have not managed to reproduce the crinkle paint finish on the body/housing and just repainted with velvet black. Any advice on that will be appreciated..
cheers

Ein, If the wipers aren't working as they should, make some extensive searches on how the motor and the associated parts operate before marking and disconnecting the wires and taking the device apart. It's a very clever design that manages to incorporate several features in an efficient way. Unfortunately, that makes it a bit difficult to understand. It also seems to justify quite high prices for new replacements.

Bill. That's not my wiper motor ~ pic from internet. I have the correct bullets and insulated duel, single & 5 way bullet plugs times many. Every plug on my car is correct right down to the translucent covers on every Lucar connector (spade). Be they straight or 90 degree & every harness is new & correct with Blue fleck in the fabric cover.

Regarding finish just buy the correct Wrinkle black paint. Numerous suppliers should stock it or get it from the US (Amazon etc). Rust-Oleum Wrinkle Finish Spray Paint, Black

All is forgiven and my apologies for doubting your adherence to absolute authenticity.
I am chasing local suppliers for the 'wrinkle paint",
Importing paint from the USA in small quantities is nearly impossible due to ICAO packing requirements.
Cheers

Bill, I'm sure I've seen VHT and Dupli-Colour in Perth. I realise that's the opposite end of the country, but the factors in Queensland must be able to obtain them - assuming they do the right colours.

I am humbled before you Bill.

I understand the shipping difficulty with volatiles. We have the full range of Rust-Oleum available in SA.

There was a Hardware store on River Road, West of Wollstonecraft that carried it in North Sydney NSW. Been out of Aus since 2002 but it was one of the larger chains IIRC. My apartment was on Wollstonecraft Bay overlooking our private jetties & the harbour view in a complex called Wondakiah.

This is what I can't reproduce. It has a wrinkle with a difference. Bloody Lucas 38604 Accessory socket. I'm all ears if someone has achieved it.

That looks like more of something made of plastic scrap that's been put into heated forming mold under pressure.
Or it's nothing more then plastic that's put into a mold with that pattern in it.

Have found VHT and Dupli-colour locally. Just had not been looking in the right places.
Can't help you with the accessory socket

Great ~ at least you are fixed up Bill. I've just used standard Wrinkle on the socket for now. No one seems to notice. Just me being ****.
