Default Rexine vinyl used on the central instrument panel on MK2

Hello all,

More questions:

Does any of the typical vendors, or anyone else, sell the black grain Rexine (or something very close) to match the center instrument panel in the MK2?

Mine is certainly usable, but I would like to replace with new material - the original smells very musty from the car being in storage.

Thanks,
Lin

Thanks for that. Mine too also needs replacing. previous owned has drilled a hole near the light switch for fitment of warning light, perhaps for an alarm system (?). Not to my taste, so it must go!

I checked with Aldridge in the UK. They say that they have it, so I have placed an order. It was about $15.00 plus shipping which I am sure will be more than the vinyl.

Once I receive it I will report on the degree to which it matches the original.

I had this same problem in the mid-80s when rebuilding a Mark 2, and found the original stuff wasn't available. It may now have been remanufactured. I think I used a piece of black Ambla. The grain was far finer than the original as I recall. Still looked OK, though.
