In the bottom of the plenum there is bolt that goes through the plenum floor and has double nuts on the outside (visible behind the dash). It appears that it is some kind of brace to create tension on the torsion bar assembly in the ventilator.I have no idea why double nutting was necessary, and I am not really sure of its designed purpose. Can someone enlighten me?

Can you show a pic with the component is its correct orientation; it might remind me of something. At the moment I cannot mentally position what you have shown in the actual car.

 

Can't visualize where it is located. Can we get a bigger picture as Fraser said above. Looked behind dash in MK but still cannot see the bolt ( dash is loose and I can get behind it, tight now).
