Thanks for all the info. Trying to distill everything down. I will be taking the dash out soon so I will have good accessibility to hopefully sort this out. Steering column is coming out too to repair the horn.
If I am reading everything correctly then the conversion to LHD has (probably) been done to the wiper motor because they park on the correct side?
The wipe arc is incorrect because the flexible rack is not setup correctly?
Glyn, are you sure that the Park Switch adjustment is not miles off, the sweep and the park position are way out, it should park at the end of the sweep, but it looks like its parking way down from the sweep, if the motor is doing complete turns, the wiper should park with the cable fully retracted.

Thinking about this again, if the motor is doing a full rotation, it is impossible for the park to be that far off the end of the sweep, the motors simply keeps running until the point where the wiper cable is fully retracted, power is kept on the motor until the park switch opens at the end of the sweep and cuts power to the motor until the wiper switch is turned back on again., the park switch adjustment simply allows the park position to be set exactly at the end of the sweep.
To have a park position well below the sweep it would appear that the motor is not fully rotating but going backward and forward, disconnect the park switch and see if the motor runs at all, it should, but will stop wherever the wiper is at the point the switch is turned off. Something appears incorrect in the wiring I would think for this to happen.
Does the wiper park back at the bottom of the screen after the switch is turned off ?

I don't remember if the park position is limited by the mechanical travel in the park cycle or the 'micro switch' that breaks the circuit when the wipers reach park position with the motor in park mode (reverse). If the latter, TJ's suggestion makes a lot of sense to me.

Thanks. Just ordered a Carcoon so I can dismantle everything and leave the car on my drive while
i am working on it. Garage won’t be finished until
the end of year then I can use the Carcoon to store the XK8 for the winter.
When I have dismantled everything I will post some pictures.
It checked my spare wiper motors. One had a 1958 cover (MK1) and the other had a1963 cover (MK2).
Both have 120-degree gear wheels.
The "throw" or movement translated to the rack cable is exactly 1 inch (roughly 25mm)
NOTE. There is no adjustment for sweep position at the wiper motor. That is done by positioning the wiper arms on the splines of the wheel box.
Hint. Remove wiper arms. Disconnect battery. Set wiper switch to low. Momentarily touching battery to find lowest position of sweep on windscreen. replace wiper arm. Now check sweep limits as desired. Do not involve the off/park position while doing this.
In addition, you cannot adjust the amount of sweep at all.
The park adjustment on the wiper motor should only be adjusted after setting the wiper arms correctly for the desired sweep.
