Default 02 XK8 Relocated from Detroit to Seattle

Hello, my name is TJ. I just bought a 02 XK8 Convertible on eBay and had it shipped out to the burbs of Seattle. It finally got here today, and I got a chance to drive it for the first time.

First off, I got the deal of the century on this car (way under $10K). It is beautiful ... has a couple little things I already have questions on, but believe me, no complaints here.

This is my 3rd Jag. My first was a 2000 3.0 S-Type that I found at auction in 02 for $16K. Up until now, that is the car that I have liked the most of all that I have owned. I have been kicking myself for trading it in back in 07.

I also bought a 94 XJ VDP at auction in 03 for my fiance. It was a nice car, but way too big for her (she is 5' 0"), so we sold it a year or so later.

I am going to snoop around the site and see if I can answer some questions I have on the cruise control, a noise I hear at freeway speed, whether it does anything to tell me about MPG, and whether I can do anything with the phone in it.

Glad to be here, hope to see you all soon.

Welcome to the forum,

Good to hear the eBay deal turned out well. You could end up fighting your 5' 0" fiance for the driving seat.

By 2002 the early issues were resolved although you especially need to check on tensioners and trans fluid change. The XK8/XKR 1996 - 2006 section has all the info.

There's been loads of discussion on phones. This thread will give you an opener:

Cruise control and the MPG readout are covered in the Driver's Handbook.

Welcome to the forum ,

Good to have you with us.
Excellent advice above, if it's the factory 'phone it may be better forgotten.

You should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.

TJ,
Noticed you live in Issaquah. I lived there for 25 yrs before moving to A'ville. If you're driving down May Valley Rd. say hello to our old house and watch out for the bicycles on the weekend. Welcome to the forum.
