hey there n welcome to the site
As for the posts? we have many hundreds /thousands of members who drop by post once / twice and are never seen again - they take up space and do not contribute.
Members who get into double figures and visit reasonably regularly, post and help to contribute in any way they can are the lifeblood of the site. The 10 post count not is so much required as advised. It'll also help to get you full forum access!
Hope you enjoy your time here with us

I am a mod on the Porsche Club website in Vancouver. Our solution is to have the first post of every new member approved or disapproved by a moderator. This has stopped all the garbage and spam. However this site may be different as someone may just post a couple times until the fix their problem and go away.

Ah yes Rob, the 'one & done' folks. It's violating to be used like that, and its especially bad for the few certified mechanics that we are blessed with. Valuable information from them many times goes unappreciated by the new member, and often never return to even follow up if the suggestion or advice given was helpful.

I imagine it may be the same for you Porsche guys.

Default many questions already answered

i don't understand how not giving access to some resources does help the community. it just blocks out interested newcomers. maybe there are people out there (like me) who have nothing much to say but would like to read a lot. is that really a problem?

Sadly not everyone is a genuine enthusiast or interested newcomer, or even a human.

Towards the backend of last year there was an ever increasing problem of 'bot' spam and real live human spammers.

Measures were taken to prevent this and keep the forum as clean and healthy as possible for the users, without us having to 'vet' every single new member's first post; which would take a lot longer to accomplish than the current restriction.

The restriction seems to be working pretty well in keeping the malicious folk or bots at bay.

OK, it may be a little inconvenient but our Admin always seems to be willing to manually lift the restriction for genuine cases, and where this might not always be immediately possible, we 'Mods' can usually come up with a work around for that urgent file.

I am closing this thread, nothing against anyone here, but there is a Forum Access thread in the Help and Suggestion section, which pretty much covers everything that is likely to be posted here, and is more likely to be seen by our Admin.
