1999 XKR from UK saying hello...
Hi,
I'm a Uk based XKR owner, found loads of interesting stuff in this forum, so finally decided to do the honourable thing and register as a member.
My car is a '99 XKR convertible with 85k miles on the clock in metallic black, with cream leather Recarro interior, and a rather nice sounding exhaust system, of unknown origin.
It had a replacement engine at 45k under warranty due to Nicasil problems, so fortunately has the later model cam chain tensioners etc.
I have owned the car 3 years, and have so far:-
Replaced ALL the suspension bushes
Replaced the throttle body after that failed.
Changed the auto transmission oil.
I've had the floor pans under the front footwells cut out and new sections welded in, on both sides after they rotted due to water ingress.
I've suffered from water filling the spark plug well and drowning the coil on the rearmost cylinder on the left hand side of the car (under the header tank). and I've had a couple of coils fail, so I've replaced them all.
I've also had a hydraulic pipe fail on the convertible hood latching mechanism, and am in the process of replacing the pipes and fitting the pressure relief bypass conversion kit from LSI controls, suggested by people on this forum.
Next job is to clean and refurb the convertible hood, as it's looking a bit grey, and even green in places..!
I love the car...!!!!!
All the best
Andy
