Are 2000/2002 S-Types good first Jags?

I am on the market right now for a "new to me" car, and was wondering if a 2000-2002 S-Type is a good first Jaguar?
I don't expect the reliability of a Toyota, but what is it for this type of vehicle?
What should I be looking for? I am only looking for the V6, knowing that the Ford technology makes it easier and less expensive to service and maintain.
I see S-Types on Craig's for around $7000-$9000 for cars which look very clean and unblemished on these photos, often presented as "wife's car", but who knows what the real story is.
I completely fell in love with the S-Type and kept good memories of my dad's E-Type (my dad did much better economically than I am, obviously). By the way, my dad sold his E-Type after a big scare.
Thanks for the help!

Go for 2003 and up to many things go wrong with 00 to 02. I know some wives that beat the S___ out of thier cars so don't buy into that phrase. I have a 2000 and it's a great car but expensive to keep.

Hey AZNick welcome to the forum.
Re your S type questions....you may be better posting that up in the S type section where it'll get more exposure.
Good luck
Jim
