Default 2001 XKR 52K miles Dallas

I am a new member. I have been reading from this forum for several days and wished I had started years ago. I have unfortunately trusted my dealership with my car for 10 years only to discover some untruths regarding my car repairs. Two questions:
1. Dealership says do not flush transmission. The car will never be the same. My reading from this forum says otherwise. Can someone tell me what to do?
2. For the following repairs the cost is listed, if in fact these repairs are really necessary.

Front Shocks (parts $914.00)
Shock Bushings and Mounts (parts $474.59)
Front Coil Springs (parts $283.00)
Labor for shocks, mount and springs ($260.00)
Tax ($137.91)
Four wheel alignment ($149.95)

TOTAL $2219.45

Is this a reasonable price?

P.S. 100 miles ago. Replaced transmission mount for (parts $162.75) (labor $190.00), Replaced power steering cooler and refill (parts $166.00) (labor $209.00) and replacement #8 cylinder coil (parts$ 143.00) (labor $237.50), for a total of $1108.25 w/o tax. I was told I was getting a dear because I was not being charged regular price/hour labor.

Any advice?

Welcome to the forum Kittyanne, always glad to have another Texan aboard! Now..huslte on up to the NW of the metroplex and get to know Motorcarman, one of our amazing techs.

Front springs? @52k? How many head o' cattle you been herding with it?!?
I'd be dubious about the need for shocks, let alone springs...but if you put most of the 52K on it chasing Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart around Supercross tracks, I guess maybe so....

Well, you asked someone to tell you what to do: Get in touch with Motorcarman!

Have you heard of getting a second opinion? I can tell you first hand that you do not need to take your car to a dealership for your repairs you have many repair shops that will treat you fairly and at a better rate than others. Motorman is on this forum along with others that will do what all they can to help. FYI I have 122,000mi on my XK8 and have no need to replace the shocks; however, the bushings are a different story. Welcome to the forum.

Thank you so much. No, I have not been herding any cattle or F1 racing. I think I have been paying for the dealership's rent for 10 years. So many nightmares.

I need all the help I can get.

Thank you.

I am new, but want to be sure I thank all of you for your help. I do plan on seeing British Auto next week.

Please keep the suggestions coming. I have been taken to the cleaners and I can use all the help I can get.

Where have all of you been the past 10 years or better yet where the heck have I been?

There is only one Kittyanne, you had posted two threads in the new members section so I merged them into one.
I've added your details to your sig line, they should show up in your next post.
If you click on user CP in the black bar at the top of the page it will take you to your control panel, look on the left of the page and you will see edit signature under the settings and options heading. You can make any changes you want there.
