Default 4.0 Inline Six Valve Stem Seals

Hello,
Can anyone tell me why the 4.0 only has valve stem seals on the intake side? Is this for cooling or extra lubrication reasons? The exhaust valve guides have a groove and would be able to except seals. I have heard of people installing valve stem seals on the exhaust side as well. Does anyone have any facts, technical data or opinion as to wether installing seals on the exhaust side would be a good idea. As in the past thanks again in advance for all of the help I have recieved on this site.

Hey Bob,

If you buy a Jaguar factory head gasket set, it is supplied with seals for all 24 valves. There is also a bulletin directing their installation on the exhaust valves. They are supposed to be there, the factory didn't put them on, and anyone who tells you different is wrong.

Hello,
Thanks so much for the information. I thought they should be there. It's odd they did not come that way for the factory. Oh well, Why ask why...........
