Welcome to the forum pomdownunder,

Good to have you with us.
You will for sure want to look at the tech section XJ X300 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum and ask the experts what to look for also don't forget your regional section Australia / New Zealand - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
Enjoy the forum.

If you haven't done so already you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.

Welcome to this friendly Forum. 278K km is an impressive mileage - I'd worry about that unless everything but the glove compartment door had been replaced!
Follow Norri's good advice to find out more.

Welcome to the forum pomdownunder,

Follow Norri's link to the X300 section for the 6 cylinder XJR and this one XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 section for advice and information the on the XJ8. The 'HOW TO' at the top of the threads in each section is a good place to start.

Both have covered stellar distances which needs to be supported by equally large files of receipts and service history.

Graham
