Sleepless in California to ship or not to ship my Jaguar XJSV12 1990 I bought from a retired NASCAR mechanic w/ low mileage. Everyone who sees the car especially the fuel injected V12 modified to be fuel efficient is astonished by the remarkable condition of the engine as well as the rest of it. Now Moving to the islands, I was told however that if I ship this baby to Hawaii, salt water and humidity will ruin it in no time. I live a few blocks near the beach right now w/ no garage but consider moving to a cooler area with a garage away from the beach but may still be humid. Any suggestions? My dream is to drive the car to the top of Haleakala. Should I give this up?

How long to expect to live in Hawaii? Can you store it stateside while you're there? I lived on Oahu for 3 years and didn't see any more rust buckets running around than anywhere else I've lived. I suppose there could be some merit to the humidity & salty air concern....but I would be more concerned with the Matson Longshoremen. I would purchase some type of additional insurance to cover any "accident" during shipment. And you're right, that car would be a dream to drive around the island. Tough call....

Hello and welcome to jaguarforums.com. I know that you are anxious to get started and we are anxious to meet you and talk about your car. We have a baseline / criteria that must be met before full access can be granted. Please enjoy the forum and be patient once the baseline has been satisfied full access will be granted. Please continue to post and accept my welcome to the forum.

Oh one other thing you need to put your car details in your signature when you get it. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for.

Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site.

Welcome to the forum,

This is not a discussion area so you should really ask your question in another area.

IMHO you need to ask yourself if you will regret it forever if you don't ship it?
