Cool Aloha from Missouri

Hi all, love this site. My short story; back in 05, I got an X-Type for my wife as a birthday present. I didn't like it at first, I was used to the low-long-look that Jags were known for. That all changed when I drove it on a back country road up to the lake of The Ozarks.
I had to have my own after that trip so I started looking at websites for a special X-type. 6 years later, last month actually, I found the perfect X-type for my needs. It was all black, no chrome at all, and an 04 as well. tried to contact the owner for about 2 weeks, then finally I got a response...I SOLD IT LAST WEEK. Oh well, not ment to be? I noticed an ad on Craigslist for a white 04 XJ8 VDP, fully outfitted! I called the owner and he still had it. I scheduled a look-over as soon as I could and Fell-in-Love again. It is now in my driveway and I can't wait to replace the darn Golden Grill. It did have a lot of issues but I just had to have it. Issues: air leak in suspension-easy fix with O-rings, park lamps flickering-easy fix once I found out how to remove the bulb holder, Check Engine Light on-would you believe-Bad Fuel? Those where the important faults, I now have to find out why my wipers only operate on high speed.
Aloha all

Welcome to the forum.

Golden Grill, that has to be worth a picture.

Good that you are getting things fixed.

Welcome to the forum,

Good to hear that you are getting on top of the niggles.

Golden grille? sounds like a buffet. Got to be worthy of a pic, when I got mine the licence plate holder said "Dreams do come true" that had to go quick!

Thanks for the welcome. I have to do the diagnostics and repairs on my own as the dealer is 3+ hours away in Kansas City. I dont mind, working on vehicles is one of my hobbies. I uploaded a few pics to my garage, including "the Grill". I would love to swap it for a newer chrome version. I foregot to mention that the Hood Leaper and the Trunk Lid trim is also Gold.

Yikes, I had never seen one of these in gold, up to now that is. Suppose that if it is plated, you could always recoup the gold

Lightbulb Recoup the gold?

Thanks, I did not think about doing that. I was planning on a trade for chrome parts or listing them on Ebay.

Well, I think I might leave the Gold Grill on; I installed the SS mesh and like the color combination.
I repaired/replaced all the faults that I mentioned in my first post, next task will be preventive maintenance and the unexpected.
