Default Another Jag newbie

Hi guys

Just a quick Hello from Denmark. Been driving BMW's for more than a decade and been active on BMW boards when time allowed, although that has been far too little the past few years.

Some years ago I test drove an XJ6 from 1985. Loved the looks, but the car felt underpowered and I kept my german car. Since then I have looked at jags with a smile, loving the looks, but was sure they weren't for me. That is until I stumbled upon the XJR model only a few months ago. Not sure how I could miss that model for almost two decades?

During the summer my family and I stayed at a vacation home not too far from a car dealer, who just happened to have two Jags amongst his many more boring cars. A XJ8 3,2 from 1998 and a XJR from 1995. We tested both. Liked the comfort of the XJ8, but again found it underpowered. Took the XJR for a spin and even though I'm not sure I didn't prefer the smoother comfort of the XJ8, the power of the supercharger convinced me, that I could go Jag.

To cut a long story short, I had to choose between a BMW 750 (E38) or the XJR. About the same specs, but the low down torque convinced me and I bought the Jag. Not very cheap here in Denmark, although these cars are getting old. About 10 times as much as I know some of you guys have picked up your rides in other countries, but that's quite a different (and boring) story about car taxes...

So here I am. A Jag newbie with so much to learn, after driving BMW for most of my automotive life, except from my years riding bikes. Looking forward to this board and hope to have as much time, as I do interest. Although I doubt it...

Best regards
Stefan

Welcome Stefan. I suppose you are also paying for a bit of exclusivity. Any other XJRs on your street?
