Default Another Northwest XJR

Hey Fellow Jag Owners!

I have benefitted numerous times from this forum and figured I should introduce myself and my XJR that I've put the advice from my fellow forum members. I have a Carnival Red 2001 XJR with 140k miles on the clock. She's a beauty that a friend had and as soon as I saw it I told him if he ever moved on I wanted first option to buy it. That opportunity happened in May and he called me up and we struck a deal and I drove her home. I have performed the following repairs on her myself:
  • Primary and Secondary tensioners and chains upgraded to 3rd gen.
  • Smaller dia. S/C pulley.
  • Mina's cold air intake.
  • Replaced both knock sensors.
  • Replaced both fuel pumps and filters.
  • Replaced plastic coolant "flex" hoses.
  • Replaced both Hella driving lights.
Over 100 hours into her so far and all done in my garage!

The last hurdle is a fairly major vacuum leak that keeps me from getting over 3-3.5k RPM, but I have narrowed down the culprits and will fix them as soon as I identify the cause. The thing that has kept me interested is that I have yet to get the full XJR rush of power since I babied her before tensioners, then the knock sensor kept me from full power with "Restricted Performance" and then she needed fuel pumps, and then the cavuum leak. I am optimistic that I will be waxing STI's and Mustang GT's soon and surprising a bunch of others!

Welcome to the forum,

Great Intro and thanks for entering vehicle details in your Signature. It's a huge help to everyone.

Not surprised you've had the XKR since May but only just got round to joining the forum. With that work list completed, it must be your first time out of the garage.

Good luck fixing the vacuum leak. Got to show those STI's and Mustang GT's.

Graham

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I will be relying on all of you for advice to solve the vacuum leak in the event that my efforts are in vain.

Don't worry Bryce804, I have plenty of pictures to share with all of you. Stay tuned for them.

Thanks for the full access Jim C64, I'll be using my new access for even more info and fun.

Looking forward to more and more fun in the "maroon saloon"!
