I now have three British cars with the recent acquisition of a 2003 XKR convertible. I also have a 53 MGTD and a 2000 Jag S type. I like to work on cars so I bet I'll have lots of practice now.

I also have a 55 t-bird, a 56 ford f-600 and a 41 jeep in the fleet.

I preformed a few repairs on all of them (except the XKR) and look forward to having access to the group to bounce questions off.

My most recent simple repair involved the S type compass rear view mirror. the auto dimming feature liquid leaked out and the mirror was useless. New the mirror lists for something north of $300. On ebay I was able to find the jag mirror for less than $200 used. But, I discovered the electrical connection was ford made and I bought a 2007 ford taurus compass mirror with auto dim on ebay for $29.00. It plugged in without modification to the electrical cable or the windshield clip. It looks great.

Hi Avomatt, great fix on the mirror. I had a similar problem and would like the compass, does it have auto dimming too?
Ohh and welcome to the forum. look at the X308 forum too as the XK and XJ share engines

The mirror is also auto dim. I also discovered that the S type window registers are the same as a lincoln LS so the ford dealer has them, as well as some internet parts houses. The ford dealer was about the same price as internet when one includes shipping. The jag dealer was $200 more.
