Default Blown Fuses and Locked doors

Hi my name is Jack and I am new to this forum.

I have just inherited my dads 1997 Jaguar XK8 Convertible but have run in to a few problems.

I can not open the drivers door even with the key, fortunately the drivers side window is down so I can still get inside but just not open the doors or the fuse boxes inside.

There are also some blown fuses, which when I try to replace they just blow again instantly. These are mainly the ECU fuses. I am replacing them with the same rated fuses.

Nothing happens when I put the key in the ignition and turn it only a few things work such as the radio and blowers and after a couple of seconds a beeping comes on for a few seconds

The car did start but I found out that the guys that moved it connected a 24V!!! battery to the old one as the car was flat ( I think they did it on purpose ). Is it likely that they would have blow the ECU or is there a "main" fuse that would cause this to keep shorting out.

Thanks.

Welcome to this friendly Forum, Jack.
I fear if someone was crazy enough to connect 24V to your vehicle the results will be catastrophic.
I suggest you go to the XK8 section and start by downloading JTIS from the stickies at the top.
XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
There's a wiring diagram in the JTIS.
Also post your problem there with the position and numbers of the fuses that keep blowing and we'll try to help but I fear your car is in a seriously bad way.
