Default Changing tire size

I am the original owner ofa 1988 Jaguar Vanden Plas in pristine condition with 87,000 miles. If I change from the recommended tire size ofP205/70 R 15 to a wider tire, say P225/60 R 15, would the car ride the same, better, or worse?

Default RE: Changing tire size

Big E, running the wider tire in the size that you stated, you will be loosing about 0.3" of sidewall. This will tend to make the car ride a little rougher since the tire has less sidewall to use. But, with only 0.3" difference, you are not going to see that much of a difference. Also, running the wider tire, you are going to notice that the car is going to want to follow ruts a little bit more. NOthing that is going to rip the steering wheel out of your hands, but you will feel it fight you a bit more.
