Default Electric XK

Hi Folks and thanks for letting me in.

I realise that I am blaspheming quite severely, but as we move towards all this carbon zero stuff, I am considering electrifying an XK convertible from 2010 or thereabouts. Other than telling me that I am evil, any comments, handy hints or ideas would be very welcome.

The current plan is to remove the entire drive train and replace it with a Tesla drive unit to drive the rear wheels and add enough battery packs to do about 200/250 miles on a single charge. It'll make the car slightly heavier, but trade that off with 448 horses instead of the normal 385ish.

Hello,
I personally have no problem with electric vehicles, as long as they are charged without need of a coal, oil or gas-fired power generating station. In that case, Good for you.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forums tims,

That sounds a brave and fascinating project. Please do some serious ground-breaking as I may be forced in the same direction.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk-xkr-x150-33/ to the X150 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Welcome to the Forums.

Push is going to shove, even down here.

I must get another V12, just to help things along, do my bit, as they say.

I do LIKE your idea and challenge, just not for me.

Good luck.
