Default Emu light always on

Hi everyone
my engine warning light is always on and I can't get rid of it. I bought a code reader from icarsoft and it tells me that there's no co.munication with the emu.
has anyone got any ideas as to how I can fix this please?
Do I need a new emu and if so where do I get one?

Welcome.

I went looking and found you have an X Type.

Adding this to your ask will always help those that know.

I dont know what an EMU light, we just have flightless birds here called Emu's, and that is NOT what you mean, I know.

On my more modern Jags, I disconnect the battery, go have a coffee/drink, reconnect, and see what happens. It does reset some strange things at times. BUT, if the fault that caused the light is still buzzing around, the light will return at some stage.

A quickie reask in the X Type Tech section, will get better answers.

Welcome to the forum Supermill,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

SPOT THE MISTAKE - no vehicle details in your post!

It's very unlikely you will need a replacement ECM (Engine Control Module). When you get the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light a.k.a. CEL - Check Engine Light), the best plan is to post the actual codes and not descriptions. Unless you've used the Jaguar DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) lookup, generic or online lookups can be misleading.

Follow this link X-Type ( X400 ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X-Type forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link UK & Eire - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

Enjoy the forums.
