F-Pace S trunk won’t close with button - 3 audible beeps

Hi everyone! I have a 2018 Jaguar F-Pace S. A week or so ago I left the trunk open for a few hours. When I came back and hit the close button it softly beeps 3 times but will not close. Any ideas?

The most frequent causes of tailgate closure failure are:
1. lost communication with Smartkey
2. partially discharged battery
