Fan stays on several minutes ( 5minutes) after engine completely switched off
Hi everyone, my name is Nickson and a new member of this forum. Just got a Jaguar XF 4.2l v8 2008 model couple of days ago. Was really happy about the choice and decision, however , it seems I'm a bit worried about an early probable fault with the engine. The fan stays on for several minutes after the engine is switched off. Any suggestions as to what might cause this or is it a normal thing to experience ?
Welcome.
I am unsure of the "trickery" of the XF, but most cars, Jaguars of old included, have an electric fan that:
"If running when the engine is shut, it will stay running until a pre-determined temperature is reached".
All of mine with that fan feature have had that happen on stinking HOT days, but only for a minute or so, not 5 minutes as you are stating. The 2 S Types I now have, rarely do it, but the Black one sometimes, for only a few seconds.
A quickie repost in the XF section will certainly get the proper answers.

Welcome to the forum Samuel,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
Fans will continue to run for several minutes in hot weather but I doubt Walthamstow has been that much warmer than Durham this year!
