Default First Timer...be gentle

Hi Boys and Girls,

Bought my second Jag, 1997 XK8 yesterday, White over Oatmeal, 16,000 miles. I have a condo in Bonita Springs, (just north of Naples Florida), and my new (used) SL500 got flooded and is on its way to the junk yard. We were in Chicago and only suffered property damage. I really feel for those that are less fortunate and have my wife looking for ways to help out.

Of interest, CarMax has ads out offering to buy flooded cars....Hmmmmm

Being 66 years old I almost bought a mid-engine Corvette but it occurs to me that I couldn't do the car justice with my slower reaction times.

I have owned a 2000 XK8 for a dozen years and once I got it sorted have loved driving her.

I look forward to visiting the site and learning how to make my new purchase as bullet proof as possible.

Regards,

Gold Dog

Hello,
Congratulations on your Latest Jaguar! I'm sorry though for the loss of your property in Florida.
Husband and I were discussing just yesterday how Risky it would be to buy a "used car" from anywhere not local, for probably the next few years, as these flooded cars will be 'flooding the market' (pun intended), just like the last after the last several flood events.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Thanks for the kind welcome and advice. I have been spending some time climbing around the 2000 after researching the 97, examining areas I never thought to look at. There sure are lots of stuff on a car once you start peeling back the layers,

Fixed the right windshield drain......oddly the hose is quite a good deal larger than the fitting.

Regards,

GD

"They" say to take up the sill plate if you can and see if there's silt. Flippers don't usually think to clean under there.
