Default Good Day or night my friends

I am new to the site , have purchased my first jaguar. A 2004 XJ8
and am very impressed with the car. I wasn't looking to buy a car, I was just bored and test driving to pass the day and ended up buying a car. Right price, garage kept, 35,000 miles, excellent ride, (no brainer). I would like to ask the mechanics how to maintain the car. Where should I go to get an oil and filter change, (motor, transmission) and fuel filter. Should i go back to the dealership or can I go to a local oil change shop.
Can i get better engine performance and gas mileage by using manuel transmission. I seem to have better control of power, manuelly. Thanks and appreciate you.

Darryl

Hi, Darryl,

Welcome to the world of Jaguar. I'm a new arrival myself, I also bought a 2004 XJ8 (70K miles) back around Memorial Day. However, I've dreamed of having one for several years.

You've come to the right place. I've already asked several questions on this site and received many answers from people willing to help. There are also several Jaguar technicians on this site.

I'm about to do my first oil change, myself. I've always changed my own oil, since my first car. It will be interesting when I get the car up on a lift and start taking that shield off. I've never had a vehicle with one of those on it.

Best of luck, and fire away with the questions. You'll get several good answers in short order.

Mitch
