Greetings from Canada
Greetings from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada,
~1995 XJ6
~4.0 litre
~145,000 kms (90,000 miles)
~Morocco Red
~Had the piping dyed Morocco Red as well, to give interior some colour.
~Hood, roof, trunk and chrome mouldings were badly dented in freak hailstorm a few years ago. Was fully repaired (except for some mouldings the insurance company stubbornly refused to accept were damaged by the hailstones, despite much evidence to the contrary) and had complete respray.
~That winter, the brand new paint was subsequently scratched, scuffed and gouged on every side of the vehicle while in paid, indoor storage(!). Was then polished where that worked, and repainted (again) where it didn't, and yes, I paid for every dime since the storage warehouse insisted "...it wasn't us...". (Moral of the story--never store your car at facilities that require you to sign a damage waiver absolving them of negligence.)
~Is now finally sitting (more safely, one would hope) in my new, heated garage for winter.
~Will be getting a new heated windshield in spring to replace the current badly pitted / scratched one.
~Interestingly, I recently discovered that ‘Morocco Red’ wasn’t just an invention of the Jaguar colour naming department, but is, rather, an established colour according to Merriam Webster: “morocco red: a strong reddish brown that is redder, less strong, and slightly lighter than Sierra —called also caldron, marocain, morocain, Morocco” [merriam-webster.com] Who knew? It had always been among my favourite Jaguar colours of that era, tied for first place with, perhaps, Sherwood Green, though Sherwood Green was not available until the 1997 model year.
~Cannot currently share any pictures, since I have not transferred any files to new computer I am using.
