Hi guys.
I have been following this forum for a long time now and devouring valuable information. So it's time to give you a little hello!
I have been on the forum since 2021. I bought my first Jaguar in 2010. 4.2 XKR Convertible MY 2007/X150. But because it seemed too modern, sterile and almost emotionless to me and my wife, we sold it after three years in the garage.
Before that, of course, I went through the process of repairing the air conditioning condensate drain....I managed it with my colleagues in the workshop. And probably also thanks to the information from this forum.
Our other cars in the family and in the company are mostly Land Rovers. Disco 4, Free 2 and Defenders with 300Tdi engine. We also liked our Series 1, 2 and 3 vents. But that's a story for another forum. Sorry.
About six years ago I wanted a classic convertible and what else could it be but a Jaguar!?
So I bought an XK8 from a friend, reimported from the USA. MY1999 Convertible, in British racing green.
Thanks to a change in priorities, he hasn't used it for a long time, so we slapped each other. Beautiful car! Although he has scars from his previous life. But that belongs to the car. It's not a show car, but a fun car that belongs on the road. So I don't mind.
The older I get, the more beautiful I find the X100! A great car for a retiree who is not in a hurry! Although he could go really fast in this car!
If I had known then what I know from the forum, I probably would have looked for a different year of production... Preferably after a production date after August 13th. 2001 (tensioners/nicasil). But it has already happened and the car has been at home for the sixth year. And we like him. And it's still going! Beautiful and without underarms! Last month we drove it through the Austrian Alps and the XK did not disappoint, bringing me and my wife back home safely. In the rain, even in the snow, on the roads and on the highway!
But now I have an important thing waiting for me! Replacement of tensioners and thermostat tower. I have just over 70k miles on the odometer...shouldn't put it off. For the time the XK lasted and didn't let me down, I should reward it with a crappy parts exchange.
I read daily how to do it....I think I can do it, but first I will try to correctly identify the engine number, which I still haven't discovered..
But that's a topic for another thread!
Have a nice day and thank you for your Time!
Cyril.
