Welcome to the forum Alan,

Check the coolant level immediately to be certain it's not a fluid loss that's going to cause the engine to overheating - never good news in any Jaguar.

If that's OK you can relax and post the question on X-Type - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum section. The experts there should be able to help you troubleshoot the issue.

Don't forget to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to help you.

Hi Graham, thanks for the help, as it turned out, the reason the heater didn't work was in fact, it was low on water in the top reservoir, about 4 pints too low, due to a crack in the bottom of it. Thankfully the motor didn't get hot enough to do any damage to it. The only damage was to my wallet, as here in New Zealand, I managed to get my hands on the only NEW one in this country to replace it. Apparently this is a common fault here due to the rough roads. Live and learn, I guess.

Alan,

Good to hear you found the fault and fixed it before it could do any damage.

Parts costs are high enough for me 200 miles from the Jaguar factory. Shudder to think what they are for you over 11000 miles away!

Graham
