Default Hello!

Good afternoon all,
A newbie from South Africa, enjoying my S-type 2006 2.7D, rejoining this excellent forum under a new email handle.

The car has proved to be one of the most expensive in a long line of used cars over my 50 year driving history, but we still love the drive and look forward to every journey! Now with 200,000+ kms on the clock, she looks sleek and fast even standing still.

An issue proving hard to fix is a strange creaking noise from front suspension on right-hand turns.

Some history:
1. Sway-bar bushes replaced
2. One engine mounting renewed.
3. Two new Bilstein shock absorbers, top mounts sound.
4. Steering rack removed and reconditioned completely with rechroming and new seals.
5. No play in steering or suspension bushes.

Jaguar dealership locally cannot help further.
Local indie who did the steering rack has given up.
Roadworthy test centre (like UK MOT) cannot pinpoint it after extensive suspension exercising on their rig and pit inspection.

NO sound at all on left hand turns, however sharp.
NO sound under heavy braking straight ahead.
CREAKING as soon as a right turn is initiated.

Any Gurus out here? Help appreciated.....

Allan Morris

Welcome.

The S Type Tech section will hav eanswrs.

My X200 had that, and the RH lower balljoint was the culprit. I fitted grease nipples, and topped them up, quiet as new.

Default Thank you!

A great idea, many thanks!
My indie mech did suspect a dry ball joint but all he could do was use an oil can.
I'll see if he can drill and tap in a grease nipple tomorrow.
I love this forum!!
