Default Hello

Hi. I am cearmicsdude. My name is Chris and I own a hi-tech ceramics company (thus the name "cearmicsdude"). I live in Indiana and have a 1994 XJ12 (XJ40).

I joined this site to get information on my car? By chance...does anyone have any experience with a 1994 v12 engine that bogs down or "dies" if you floor it at idle.

I have put new feul pumps on, fuel filter, basically covered all of the basics. You really have to "feather" the throttle to keep it from bogging down. It is fine for everyday driving...but I want my cat to run perfect. At speed, no problems...the thing runs like a scalded dog. In fact, performance is great...except right off of idle...it won't roast the dies...it just dies. Any suggestions?

Happy to be a new member. Best Regards,

Welcome to the forum Chris,

(check the edit - it never happened! )

The V12 XJ40 is a rare and desirable vehicle. Sorry to hear you've got idling issues.

Follow this link XJ40 - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XJ40 section for help and advice. Because the V12 version is such a rarity, it may be useful to ask the question in the XJS section by following this link XJS - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum. More owners there will have experience with the foibles of the V12.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You might also want to visit the Mid West US Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/mid-west-us-il-ia-mi-mn-mo-oh-wi-39/to find other members in your region.

Hope it's a simple fix and the XJ40 is soon running sweetly. Enjoy the forum.

Graham
