Supposed to say a little hello when you sign up, right? So I shall. Hi, I'm Ash.
I am a Jag-man of long standing - fell in love with the Group C XJR8/9s and never looked back. Dad used to work for Jag too, which probably helped.
Got a background in IT but been track-ratting for JLR for a few years now.
First Jag was the '04 S-Type in my sig, which I bought off my Dad (sadly, not long before he passed away ) and I've had nothing but ever since. Along with the sig cars, I've had;
'90 XJ40 2.9 manual. Late one, with the analogue dash. Rare beasts these days but it was in a right old state
'93 XJ40 3.2 in very low spec. Including steel wheels!
'96 X300 XJ Sport 4.0. Loved that car. Paid peanuts for it, but it died beyond reasonable recovery and I sold it to my local independent Jag guys as a parts car. Will probably end up with another X300 4.0 Sport at some point!
I'm led to believe you all like photos of our cars? Here are some of mine
This is the best photo I have of the X300!
And THIS is the best photo I can currently find of the S-Type. With bonus XJS.
The main reason I signed up TBH is to say thanks for all the information that there is here, about IDS/SDD versions and Mongoose cables. I'm about to plug v130 into my '96 XJ and don't think I could've done it without some of the people on here! The next time I'm back in the relevant threads I shall be doling out some 'thanks'!
It sounds like you're finding your way around the model forums so no need for links from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top of each is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
