Default Hello All! It was meant to be.

Evening All,

An Australian living in Victoria, Melbourne.

Recently acquired a 1996 Jaguar 3.2 XJ6 in Fawn with 200,000ks - but my goodness, she is in near perfect condition visually.
Absolute dream to drive, I've owned a lot of different cars, Statesman's & Caprices (Both 6 and 8 cylinder), Lexus ES300's, Magna's, an XJ8, Buick Riviera's and Electra's...
One day I'll make a list of cars I've owned, or else I may start forgetting...

I would confidently say, that the two cars that were the easiest and most civilised to drive, would be my Jaguar, and my 1978 Electra.
I would never normally compare the two, but in my 25 or so cars I've owned, those two stand out.

Gotta say though, I know what people mean when they say "there's nothing quite like a Jaguar" because there isn't. They is that feeling you get when you get seated in the firm, quality leather, and when you insert and turn the key, and here that little 6 cylinder come to life... it's something else. It does make you feel a million bucks - even if you aren't

Though - one small issue, she does sometimes flare from 1st - 2nd gear, generally when cold and going up a slight incline, and when you really put your foot down when going around a corner (presume it's clutch packs)?

I do plan to get the 4HP22 rebuilt in the next few months, but for now, she's going along very nicely.

Welcome to the forums JimmyS,

Good to have you with us. I had that same model. Sold it with 140K miles on the clock and still going strong. The X308 that replaced it wasn't so robust!

I can see you've already found your way to the X300 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Cheers Graham,

Yes, you've seen my post RE my transmission flaring - I was wondering why I was getting no replies, now I know! Might be an idea for me to delete the post and re-post it?

The start reads like an Intro which could account for the lack of replies. I've deleted it for you.
