Hello from Dallas/Ft Worth Texas!
I am a firm believer in the power of forums and the fountain of info they provide. I work in a motorcycle shop but don't let that fool you....My forte is sales and finance and I possess almost zero mechanical skills. Not quite a Jaguar rookie as I previously owned a problem free 2011 Jag convertible, but just recently purchased a one owner 1998 Jaguar XK8 convertible with 68000 miles on it. While Princess Priscilla, Prissy for short, is in great shape she is of course an aging gal that is going to need a little attention. So far I'm dealing with the faulty fluid rear view mirror complete with serious shimmy, an intermittent heater/blower issue, some front end road walking, an antenna that won't engage, blown speakers, a cd player that just seems to take up space without function, and doors that won't lock or unlock with the remote. On the plus side, the interior is great, the top is fully functional and by the gauges and smells I do not seem to have a temperature issue. She is my weekend/sunny day car and I am looking forward to the warmer weather around the corner. Directions and tips are greatly appreciated and if someone happens to know a good and affordable mechanic in my area I would be ever grateful.
Welcome to the forums Elantoys.
Our supermod will be along shortly to point you in the right direction.
There seems to be quite a few members from Texas surely one of them knows a good mechanic in your area.
Here's the forum for Texas. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-southwest-37/
They put the regional forums together kinda weird to me. Putting Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico together.
Who would drive from Galveston to Albuquerque for a weekend get together?
A better forum would be Lousiana, Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma,
Crossing one state line might be doable without taking a week off.
Enjoy.

Welcome to the forum elantoys,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
Amazing and very fortunate to find a one owner '98 XK8. There can't be many around.
I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Welcome neighbor. You should have just enough time between now and Memorial Day to sort out all those little glitches.
