I am thrilled to be allowed to join your forum and equally thrilled with the acquisition of my 1997 XK8 convertible which is my retirement project. Its great to be able to reach out to like minded people with hands on knowledge of their cars. I know you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
That's a lovely beautiful car. That must be a rare thing..... a sunny day in Essex. I should know as I worked on the A13 flyover in Dagenham over the old Ford plant.

Finding spare parts is always a pain, plus sometimes expensive, so if you're looking for strange little bits, don't be afraid to ask and some-one will point you to a supplier. Even better, someone may have it in a garage box, and may even just post it to you for free. "Pay it forward" and all that......
