Hello everyone!
Hello everybody. My name is Michael. I joined this site after reading some very useful threads, and I knew I would have some questions that I would need answering.
First, about me. I'm 22, live in Pittsburgh, PA, originally from England. I went to college for automotive restoration (I hope to find a job in shop specializing in European classics, especially Jaguars). I don't have a Jag yet, but my mum does (little about that in the next bit) but hope to have an XJS within a year or so.
Now, the cars. Like I said, I'm hoping to get an XJS V12 within a year or so, but in the meantime I am the caretaker for my mum's Jaguar, an anthracite metallic 1998 XK8 convertible with either oatmeal or cashmere leather (pretty sure it's oatmeal). Until I get my XJS (or a 70s XJ6) I currently drive a 2005 Ford Mustang, and still have my first car, a 1966 Ford Mustang.
Anyways, I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can from you guys. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum Michael,
Good to have you here with us at Jaguar forums.
The XJS V12 convertible is a good choice. Apart from the pleasure of ownership, values can only go up over time.
For the XK8, follow this link XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
The three letter paint and trim codes are on the door pillar label. Cashmere is SDZ and Oatmeal is AGD.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Thanks for the welcome and the tips Graham.
And I don't want an XJS convertible, I wouldn't buy a convertible version given the option. No, I want the coupe, because of thw butresses. I think they are fantastic. My ideal xjs, a blue pre-1992 xjs with the single glass (Euro) headlamps.
