Default 1988 XJ6 Vanden Plas

I'm a new owner of a 1988 XJ6 Vanden Plas, I've done a little research on the vehicle (bought mainly because of the looks) and have ran into some confusion, I'm getting mixed information about the vehicle, wether it's an XJ40 or an XJ6 and also Vanden Plas even being a trim option for this model and year. If I could get some insight from former owners or people that know jaguar, it would be great to have some input. Thank you!

Welcome to the forum 88JaguarXJ6,

(I've merged your 2 separate Intro threads)

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Jaguar managed to confuse everyone by badging four different models produced between 1969 and 2009 as XJ6. To get over this confusion, the factory, dealers and the forum use the factory design code numbers to distinguish them. The factory code for your model of XJ6 is XJ40. The vehicle was offered in a number of different trim specifications of which Vanden Plas (VdP) is the best.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj40-xj81-25/ to the XJ40 forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Thanks so much for that. Really helps clear things up in my head, and when doing research!

Thanks!
