Default HELLO, I'm Diane from NJ.

I'm so happy I found this forum. Years ago I had both triumphs and MGs. This is my first jaguar. It's a 2004 xj8 and I love it! But as I've learned from the past things go wrong. That's why I'm so happy to talk to other owners and be able to pick your brains (if you don't mind).
Thank you in advance for listening.
Diane

Hi Diane;

Welcome, you will find a lot of great help here; particularly if you do any work yourself. If you don't you will still be well armed with knowledge before you seek to have problems resolved.

I see you are in Edison, so you are near Ray Catina's dealership. They are expensive, but I have always been satisfied with their work and service. I'm not mechanically skilled. If you are looking for an "inde", Joe Hann of Flemington Foreign Car Repair is at the top of my list.

Good luck with the car.

Rob

Default Thank you

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I've had my usual mechanic fix some of the minor issues, but we are pretty sure the compressor for the shocks is bad and the trunk lock isn't working. I can use the key, but the release in the car and on the key fob won't work so I'll be taking it to the local jaguar dealer to diagnose those issues. Aah the joys of a jaguar, but I love her... Lol

Diane,

Fob issues are common and posting a question on X-Type forum could help save you a lot of $$$.

Default Thanks Graham

But it's not the fob. The release on the dash won't release the trunk either. I don't know what it's called but the part that pulls the trunk lid down and locks it is stuck.. It sounds like the motor is jammed. Believe me, I'm all for saving money. (I also have two Hummers). That's why I'm having the dealer diagnose the two troubles and then once I know for sure what needs to be done my mechanic can get the parts and do the work. I'm just not sure if I should have the air compressor fixed or get the conversion kit and change to regular shocks and not have to deal with them again. What is your thought?

Diane,

If the dash button doesn't operate either then it could be a faulty lid latch or a break in the harness where it flexes repeatedly at the hinge.

The shock conversion is popular with members but some go for originality. Ask the question in X350 forum for advice from members with the same model.
