Default Hello I'm a new member

Hello fellow Jaguar Enthusiasts,

I'm Allen new to this forum but have already received great advise from Thermo!

I live in Ireland and drive a 2007 X Type Jaguar 2.0 Diesel which I imported from The U.K and love it! I need my car to last me the next 10years as I am saving to clear my mortgage! Lol

I have basic DIY skills and can do things like oil filter changes air filter change bulbs ect I also drive a 2007 Yamaha FZ6 Fazer Motorcycle 600cc on the 2-3 days of summer we get here in Ireland! Lol

Parts can be expensive for the X Type here in Ireland so what I tend to do if I have a problem is try and identify it using a forum like this then track the parts down via the Internet and if too complicated for me to fix I get my local garage to put the part on for me.

When I purchased the car from Autoquake it came with a host of problems, new rear shocks, new air con compressor, new rear view auto dimming mirror a host of belts etc had to be replaced but thankfully Autoquake covered the costs all €3000 worth!

I had the work carried out by my local ford garage as Jaguar were not trading in my region of Ireland at the time. Since I have owned the car it has been through the NCT(Irish MOT) once and I had to replace the rear anti roll bar bushes and links, this seems a common problem with X Types?

All has been great with it since and it's next NCT is due in July, I must replace the windscreen got a nasty crack, have just replaced the tyres and it needs an oil filter, air filter and of course oil change! And hopefully that's all! Lol My car currently has 80,000 miles on the clock and I hope it will do 250,000 lol, that's what it will have if it lives the next 10 years! But from reading here and on the net in general that kind of milage seems quite plausible with regular servicing. I would be greatly interested to know your opinion if it is possible my car will live that long! Lol And of course items you think will need replacing during that time.

Well that's all about my car I am a Chef by trade and I am 35 years old and I am reasonably technically minded and can usually handle simple repairs.

Well this is my intro done its great to meet you all
Thanks

Welcome to the forum Allenfazer,

Great Intro.

You should certainly be able to save significantly on parts prices by sourcing in the UK. There's also a number of specialist Jaguar breakers in this country for good used parts.

follow this link X-Type - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X-Type section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top htere is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You may also like to visit the UK Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/southwest-us-az-tx-nm-ok-37/ to find other members in the UK and Eire.

Enjoy the X-Type and the forum.

Graham
