Default Hello Jag Lovers!

Hello.
Unfortunately I am not a Jaguar owner yet. (But, I should be one very soon!) While looking for my Jaguar, I have been reading this forum and have definately learned alot. So thank you to everyone for your informative and educational posts regarding everything Jaguar.
I have always loved jaguars, but was always hesitant of owning one because of what I was told and heard regarding the high cost of up keep and expensive parts. But, I've finally decided to just get one!
I have mostly been looking at S-types (although there was a 2002 XK & 2005 XJ I had my eye on as well). But I've always loved the S-type front grill and body design. Upon reading posts in this forum I've been searching years 2005+ & focusing on V8 models.
I reside in Florida but have been finding a few better vehicles in other states. I have always been against buying a car without seeing it or test driving it personally. But, I was wondering if any of the members of this forum have gone through with such a purchase?
Do you have any advice? Or recommend anything for me to do before proceeding?
I know about 3rd party inspections but what would be the best way of handling this besides going through a facility the dealership recommends?
I Thank you for any advice or tips.

Hi jaguar216. I'm in Ohio now but lived in Tampa for seven years and miss it every day! Years ago I bought an Audi in Minnesota while living in FL and I flew up there with my father and cash in hand. IMHO the big thing is being able to walk away if whatever your looking at is garbage. Luckily the Audi wasnt. I also went to Houston to buy a Benz for my friend while we lived in TN and I drove it back that day. But personally I think the best set of eyes for a potential purchase are the ones on the buyers face (if your familiar with what you're looking at).

Welcome to the forum jaguar216,

Good to hear you've found useful information here to get over your fear of Jaguars and help you choose a suitable model.

We have many members who have successfully purchased out-of-State and some who have done so without first seeing the vehicle and getting it delivered to them.

If you've definitely decided on an S-Type, a question in the tech section S-Type / S type R Supercharged V8 - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum will get you recommendations on how to proceed. If there's a member near a vehicle of interest to you, they may offer to check it for you.

You may also like to visit the Lower Atlantic Region section by following this link Lower Atlantic - NC SC FL GA - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.

Good luck with the search and enjoy the forum.

Graham
