Hello - new member from Tampa FL
Well actually I did create an account a while ago, but sadly I did not complete the handshake and introductions. Now that I have some extra time on my hands (sorta retired), I need to say; HI EVERYONE!!! and thanks for creating this active sharing forum community.
I purchased a Jaguar XJ8 brand new in 2004 and I can remember that special day like it was yesterday. It was my long term dream to own such a classic icon. When Jaguar redesigned the XJ8 in 2004, I just had to convince the 'boss' that it was time to own a 'cat'.
Since 2004, I have sorta babied my cat, and only have 25,900 miles on her. In fact, I am starting to see some issues with a garage kept, non active machine and today I have decided to spend more time with her rather than keeping her as some sorta museum piece. Its time to drive and get some pleasure!!
And besides, my Harley MC days are winding down, so that's another reason.
Anyway, I love to tinker and consider myself handy with most tools and diagnostics, although the computer controls in these new cars is a challenge for DIY'ers like myself.
I just finished rebuilding my 1998 270 SeaRay Sundancer engine which was a 454 big block and did 90% of work myself with oversight assistance from a certified mechanic. I really enjoyed that project which got me thinking its time to really get to know the Jag, as I want to keep her as long as possible, and dealers are too be avoided if possible from my experiences.
Anyway, me and the Mrs (of 34yrs) are looking forward to sharing whatever knowledge we can with this community in the near future.
Cya around,
Al from Tampa
