Help a new member
Last month I bought a 97 XK8 in Florida. It didn't take long before the check engine light came on. A local garage told methat there is a bad attempt at plugging a throttle body leak and they could supply and install a new throttle body for $3000. They said it would run but with a lean mixture. I opted to drive it home to Canada which I did.
Now it is in the garage waiting for a new throttle body which was shipped from Michigan over a week ago. I assume customs are thinking about what to charge. A code reader gives a short term fuel trim of 12.5% on bank one and 17.19% on bank two. Long term it is 14.84% on both banks.
I took off the air hose to the throttle body so that I could see how it's installed and decided that my minimal skills may not be up to the job. So I put the air hose back. Now it will not start. I did find blue plastic tape lying loose under the body after I took off the air hose. Cannot see where the tape came from.
Wish I had found and absorbed Jaguar Forum before I bought.
Any ideas?

Oh one other thing you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for.
