help opening trunk on 98 XJR
Hi folks, i have enjoyed reading your forum from time to time, lots of great stuff! I can't seem to get anywhere with a problem i'm having. i can't open the trunk, i have tried all the things i haveread here, i have used Alldatapro and even spoke with the local Jag dealer (Indy) to no avail. I have one black key and one eggshapped remote.I have tried valet reset (maybe not right}and every thing else i could think of. No access from backset so no luck there. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!I have not been in trunk (just bought this one) and i don't even have a manual, its probably in trunk! Thanks, Leo...

If you have a key, then it should open. On the XK's there is a keyhole right next to the XK8 badge. They camoed it so it is hard to see but it is there. The keys, as you know, are about the size of a drill bit, so the hole is about the size you'd expect a drill bit to make.
I imagine an XJ is the same. Look for it. If it doesn't open with the key, squirt some WD40 in there and wait a minute or two.
