Arrow Hey there! I'm new and I have a Starting Issue

I own a beautiful 94 Jaguar XJ6. I love my car. Its the car I've wanted since I was a kid. I've been having issues since day one. I've replaced so many parts, as it sat for years garaged, but neglected. I've replace the drivers side kick panel, fuel pump, all kids of sensors, battery, door handles, trunk latch, ETC. Now, after replacing the fuel pump, it's turning over but not starting.

I got it to start twice after pumping the hell outta the gas, and a thick dark cloud of smoke puffed out, but after that it started each time I had shut it off that day.

It's been 3 days since it started. It's pretty cold in our area right now. I've read it could be the coolant temperature sensor... any other ideas? I love this car.

I just want it to start and run. I've owned it since Sept. 2012 and have only driven it a handful of times do to all the issue I've had.

I'm tired of paying the same guy $65 an hour to keep telling me issues... I just want an answer for why it doesnt start all the time...

I'd appreciate ANY suggestions!

Hi Aliss72:
Welcome to the forum and greetings from the Midwest Region. We've got two things in common: we're both located in the Midwest and we've both got XJ40s. These kinds of non-starting issues can be very frustrating, but I'm hopeful that as you share your problems with the XJ40 section, you'll get some direction. There's a lot it could be; but there's a lot that can be done too. Keep the faith and hang in there!
Cheers,
Scott

Welcome to the forum Aliss72,

XJ40 tech section is the place to go with this. Guys there with the same model will help you troubleshoot the non-starting.

I've moved your post from US Mid West Region section to the XJ40 section so all members with the same model will see it. Follow this link to get directly to it:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...g-issue-91671/

Please don't make the identical post in different sections.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham
