Default Hi from Central California

I have a 1997 Jaguar XJR, it is my second Jag. My first was a 1972 XJ6 that I had to sell as my family grew. There's just something about a Jag! I got this one with a blown engine and replaced it myself, the neighbors said, "you know it's a good neighborhood when the cars on jacks in the yard are Jaguars! Been driving it for the last four years and love it. Style, handling, ride, performance, and class.

Welcome to the forum stevendvon,

Good to have understanding neighbours - hope they were also around to help lift the new engine in!

A 1997 could be one of the last straight six X300's or an early V8 X308. Follow this link XJ X300 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X300 section or this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 section for help, advice and information.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You may also like to visit the US Western Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forum.

Welcome to this friendly Forum,
Follow Graham's advice and enjoy your membership here.
If you've got the V8 I think you need to check the timing chain tensioners.

Welcome Stevendvon,
I admire your panache, Good Luck with your passion and you must have a nice neighbourhood after what your neighbour said.
Ulp, considering many neighbours don't do things like talking today!! Ha ha
Good Luck with the XJR, that's a Beauty I wish to own ... SOMEDAY!
Methinks, you have CLASS TOO! Enjoy! Stu

Default X300

I am having problems with the auto steering column, power seats, drivers window, ans memory system on my 97 XJR after the battery went dead and the alarm went off while at the paint shop for some minor repairs. They are all inop and there has not been any major issues other than the tilt motor on the column would run but not move the column. Any suggestions or repairs would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I'd post in the X300 section for best help.
Jaguars are extremely sensitive to battery voltage - if any doubt get the battery checked at an auto parts shop.

I see you've also posted this same tech question about your XJR in the US Western Region section. I've moved it to the X300 tech section.

Multiple posting (a.k.a. post whoring) the same question is a quick way to make yourself unpopular with the members.

Graham
